Fall/Spring Brackenridge Research Fellowships (University of Pittsburgh)

The Brackenridge Research Fellowships are named for Hugh Brackenridge, the founder of the University of Pittsburgh.  These fellowships support University of Pittsburgh undergraduates who conduct an independent research project, participate in a weekly seminar in which Fellows present and discuss their projects, and attend a series of (almost) weekly faculty lectures.

Eligibility
Full-time, undergraduate students on the Oakland campus who are sponsored by and working with a full-time faculty member during the Fellowship.  The fellowship is open to students from any field and any class, including freshmen and seniors. See website for further details.

International Studies Fund (University of Pittsburgh)

The International Studies Fund (ISF) is intended to help students at the University of Pittsburgh to conduct research on international issues or in international settings.

ISF grants may not be used for tuition, language study, internships, or other non-research related expenses.  Conference, workshop or symposium travel is not eligible for funding under the ISF program.

European Studies Center Graduate Small Grant and Student Assistantships (University of Pittsburgh)

The European Studies Center (ESC) at the University of Pittsburgh offers funding opportunities to graduate students.

Graduate Small Grants
The ESC offers small grants to graduate students to help defray the costs of presenting papers at professional conferences.  Applications will be reviewed at the beginning of each month.

Graduate Student Assistantships
Graduate Student Assistantships (GSA) are available for a limited number of students selected to work at the European Union Center of Excellence and the European Studies Center.  GSAs receive a tuition remission and stipend and coverage of most of their student fees.

Alberta Sbragia Fund for Graduate European Studies (University of Pittsburgh)

The Alberta Sbragia Fund for Graduate European Studies was established in 2011 in honor of Dr. Sbragia’s commitment to education and mentoring of young scholars.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be University of Pittsburgh graduate students who are currently ABD.

Funding
Up to $400 for dissertation assistance, research or publication support, or travel to and research in relevant European countries.

Pitt Alumni Association Scholarships (University of Pittsburgh)

The Pitt Alumni Association has been awarding scholarships to University of Pittsburgh students for over 20 years.  Their stringent scholarship process ensures that the University can recruit and retain the best and brightest students, thereby enhancing the prestige of the University and every Pitt degree.

The following scholarships are available:

Andrew J. Kuzneski, Jr. Recognition Scholarship
$9,000, renewable for four years
Awarded to an incoming freshman legacy student whose grandparent, parent or sibling is a Pitt alumnus

Hilda M. Willis Freshman Legacy Scholarship
$5,000, renewable for four years
Awarded to an incoming freshman legacy student whose grandparent, parent or sibling is a Pitt alumnus

Graduate Scholarship
$5,000
Awarded to an incoming or currently enrolled Pitt graduate student who also received his/her undergraduate degree from Pitt

Pitt Club and Council Scholarships
Regionally based club and affinity councils fund the entire scholarship the first year.  In subsequent years the alumni association and OAFA match the original award (up to $2,o00).

Dr. Alexander and Frances Minno Graduate Student Resource Fund
Provides financial support to a graduate student enrolled in any school at the University.  Awarded to an incoming or currently enrolled Pitt graduate student who also received his/her undergraduate degree from Pitt.

Tom Ablauf Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student with 24 or more completed credits and proven involvement in one or more of the following areas: Greek Social Organizations, Neuroscience, Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society, or Blue & Bold Society.

Anita J. Angus Endowed Alumni Association Athletic Scholarship
Awarded to a Pitt student who is a Pennsylvania resident and a participant in intercollegiate athletics with a particular emphasis on football, basketball or crew.

Robert I. “Cubby” Bearer Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a Pitt student who is a resident of Western PA and has attained the merit of Eagle Scout and who has demonstrated financial need.

Cecile M. Springer Endowed Scholarship
$1,000
Need-based award for an undergraduate student.

Dr. Donald M. Henderson Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an African American student for tuition based on need.

David A. Lower and Maureen R. McBride Freshman Scholarship and Student Initiative Endowed Fund
Awarded to an incoming student from the Metropolitan Pittsburgh area who demonstrates financial need.
