Internship Program in Germany – via Cultural Vistas

The Cultural Vistas Internship Program in Germany provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable international work skills, improve German language abilities, and experience German life and culture firsthand.

Internship placements are available in a variety of fields, including but not limited to, business, engineering, finance, tourism, IT, media/communications, international relations, the nonprofit sector, German studies, and economics.

Most internships are three to 12 months in length and have flexible start dates.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

  • be students, international and US, enrolled in US colleges and universities, and Canadian citizens enrolled in US or Canadian colleges and universities
  • have at least two years of university level studies in the field of their major
  • have two years of post-secondary instruction in German or the equivalent (extra language training is available, if needed)

Funding
Many internships are paid and scholarships are available to qualified participants who receive unpaid internships.  Participants will receive a scholarship application following acceptance to the program.  A limited number of language course stipends are also available for those who qualify.

UAS7 (German Universities of Applied Sciences) – Study & Internship Program

UAS7 is a strategic alliance of seven leading German Universities of Applied Sciences committed to excellence in teaching and research.

Since 2006, the Study and Internship Program (SIP) has enabled highly qualified undergraduates from US and Canadian colleges and universities to experience the German approach to hands-on education at a member of UAS7, a consortium of Germany’s top universities of applied sciences.  SIP students spend a semester studying at a UAS7 campus and a semester interning.  Although most SIP students will apply for internships after arriving in Germany, you can request placement in a UAS7 research laboratory/institute internship in your application.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be:

  • full-time undergraduate students in good academic standing currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited US or Canadian college or university (US or Canadian citizenship is not required)
  • currently enrolled as sophomores or juniors in a field represented on UAS7 campuses: engineering, science, life sciences, business, management, economics, architecture, art, design, journalism, social work

Funding
Successful applicants are eligible for two scholarships.  A maximum of one scholarship will be awarded per successful SIP applicant.  All SIP applicants will be considered for these scholarships during the admissions process.

UAS7 Travel Scholarship
€1,000 contribution to travel expenses for program participation.  A full tuition waiver and other program benefits are also included.

DAAD Scholarship
Generous support is provided by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for the most competitive applicants to the UAS7 SIP and SP programs.  Financial support comprises €650 per month for living expenses and €850 contribution to travel expenses.

If you want to focus on the opportunity to spend a semester as a UAS7 member institution, the Study Program (SP) is right for you.  Most SP students opt to study during the German Sommersemester, since the German Wintersemester runs into the spring term on most American campuses.

SIT Study Abroad Scholarships

SIT Study Abroad offers semester and summer programs for undergraduate students in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, as well as comparative programs in multiple locations. Each year, SIT awards nearly $1.3 million in scholarships and grants to SIT Study Abroad students. SIT offers a broad range of scholarships and grants, including a Pell Grant match. SIT only awards need-based scholarships and grants.

Eligibility Requirements
Scholarships and grants are available to all students accepted into an SIT Study Abroad program irrespective of citizenship, national origin, or home school.  Accepted eligible students will be evaluated for all funds in which they are eligible.

Foundation for Global Scholars Scholarships

The Foundation for Global Scholars (FGS) was established in order to open doors for as many college students as possible to have international study opportunities and become globally minded citizens. With scholarships founded on the principle of reciprocity, FGS empowers globally minded students to gain international understanding and perspective, without regard to financial ability, and to return the investment by making an impact on their local/wider communities.

60% of FGS’s annual funding is allocated for students and areas underrepresented in education abroad programs, including:

  • students receiving the PELL Grant
  • students of ethnically diverse backgrounds
  • students majoring in science/engineering/math/technology (STEM)
  • students studying at Colorado institutions
  • student veterans

FGS offers seven different scholarships based on the above categories.

The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) Study Abroad Scholarships and Financial Aid

For 65 years, CIEE has been a leader in producing high-quality international study abroad and exchange programs. A non-profit, non-governmental international exchange organization, CIEE helps to raise the standards of international education and provides quality, rigorous study abroad opportunities through concrete action, meticulous attention to deadline, and employment of experts in the field.

Every year, CIEE awards more than $3 million in scholarships and grants for study abroad. Students may apply for:

  • academic excellence scholarships (for students who excel in academic pursuits and are devoted to specialized areas of study)
