IAESTE – International Internships – via Cultural Vistas

IAESTE, or the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experiences, is a global organization promoting intercultural exchange between students in STEM fields across the globe.

IAESTE’s goal is to provide international professional opportunities for studying studying in the technical fields.  Participants complete internships at private institutions, universities, and research centers around the world.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

  • be enrolled at an accredited US college or university in a full-time bachelor’s, master’s or PhD program, before, during and after the program.  International students are welcome to apply as long as they are enrolled at a US college or university.
  • have attained junior-level standing or above by the time the internship begins
  • be enrolled in a technical field of study, including, but not limited to, engineering, computer science, architecture, natural and physical sciences, or agricultural sciences
  • be 19-30 years of age
  • be fluent in English

Funding
IAESTE participants receive a stipend that generally covers at least the cost of living.  See website for further details.

UAS7 (German Universities of Applied Sciences) – Internship Program

UAS7 is a strategic alliance of seven leading German Universities of Applied Sciences committed to excellence in teaching and research.

The Internship Program (IP) is a new option for students interested in hands-on research opportunities at a German university of applied sciences.  Internships offered by UAS7 member faculty allow IP participants to work alongside teams in our campus research laboratories and institutes.  German language is sometimes but often not required for UAS7 Internship Program.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

  • have prior laboratory experience (academic or otherwise)
  • have sufficient English fluency to function in an international scientific work environment
  • be a degree-seeking student at an accredited US or Canadian college or university (US or Canadian citizenship not required)
  • have a strong academic record; demonstrated preparation for the proposed internship

Successful applicants are eligible for the UAS7 Travel Scholarship.  All IP applicants will be considered for this scholarship during the admissions process.

UAS7 Travel Scholarship
€1,000 contribution to travel expenses for program participation.  A full tuition waiver and other program benefits are also included.

UAS7 (German Universities of Applied Sciences) – Study & Internship Program

UAS7 is a strategic alliance of seven leading German Universities of Applied Sciences committed to excellence in teaching and research.

Since 2006, the Study and Internship Program (SIP) has enabled highly qualified undergraduates from US and Canadian colleges and universities to experience the German approach to hands-on education at a member of UAS7, a consortium of Germany’s top universities of applied sciences.  SIP students spend a semester studying at a UAS7 campus and a semester interning.  Although most SIP students will apply for internships after arriving in Germany, you can request placement in a UAS7 research laboratory/institute internship in your application.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be:

  • full-time undergraduate students in good academic standing currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited US or Canadian college or university (US or Canadian citizenship is not required)
  • currently enrolled as sophomores or juniors in a field represented on UAS7 campuses: engineering, science, life sciences, business, management, economics, architecture, art, design, journalism, social work

Funding
Successful applicants are eligible for two scholarships.  A maximum of one scholarship will be awarded per successful SIP applicant.  All SIP applicants will be considered for these scholarships during the admissions process.

UAS7 Travel Scholarship
€1,000 contribution to travel expenses for program participation.  A full tuition waiver and other program benefits are also included.

DAAD Scholarship
Generous support is provided by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for the most competitive applicants to the UAS7 SIP and SP programs.  Financial support comprises €650 per month for living expenses and €850 contribution to travel expenses.

UAS7 is a strategic alliance of seven leading German Universities of Applied Sciences committed to excellence in teaching and research.

If you want to focus on the opportunity to spend a semester as a UAS7 member institution, the Study Program (SP) is right for you.  Most SP students opt to study during the German Sommersemester, since the German Wintersemester runs into the spring term on most American campuses.

Eligibility Requirements

  • full-time undergraduate students in good academic standing currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited US or Canadian college or university (US or Canadian citizenship is not required)
